A New Year Poem

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

A hand writing in notebook with a pencil

Hello, readers!

Wishing you and your family a holiday season full of joy, laughter, and baby snuggles. I want to share with you a poem that I wrote for my daughters.

Love,

Emily and the Bonsie family

The Golden Hour

The doctor laid you on my chest

Precious, small, brand new

Your eyes met mine in recognition

I know you

Nurses bustled about

As tears of joy ran down my face

They stitched me up

But I only felt our first embrace

Hello, I’m your Mama, I said

While Dada whispered his love

With your tiny hand in mine

I thanked the Lord above

And I wondered-

As I smiled down at you

How can my heart hold so much joy?

I’ve never felt love so true

Heart to heart

And skin to skin

Finally in my arms

Our adventure about to begin
